What a long Wednesday!

It has been a long day for us here.  My little girl has been coughing hard today.  Obviously, her asthma is really kicking in.  I have been giving her breathing treatments the past two weeks regularly, but today I had to do one of the two treatments every four hours for her to feel a little bit better.  What made me freak out was when she had a slight fever this late afternoon.

Not that I am scared with the swine flu (though it is really scary!), hubby and I are more apprehensive with pneumonia and the viral infection from last year to recur.  God forbids!  Goodness gracious, we never want to experience that awful incident last year.  It was scary.

When hubby got home from work, we talked about are we going to the emergency room right away or should we wait until tomorrow morning?  With the little girl coughing hard, we just can’t wait.  So, while I was getting ourselves and our stuff ready, hubby called National Jewish and asked if we can walk-in in the said hospital.  This top notch hospital is where my little girl has been going to in connection with her chronic lung issues which include asthma ever since.  Her pulmonologist, Dr. Larsen is just the best.  When they said that it’s okay to come in, off we went there.

Though Dr. Larsen was not there, Dr. Berns and Nurse Carrie who took care of us were so nice and very accommodating.  Fortunately, that part of the hospital was not crowded.  Thank goodness!  It turned out that my little girl still has ear infection.  It just didn’t resolve when she had it two weeks ago.  What made it worse is the simple cold she has.  Simple it maybe, it is complicated for my girl since she has chronic lung problems.

Luckily, they didn’t let my girl stay in the hospital for the night.  We immediately tried to find a 24-hour open Walgreen’s before we head home.  I do hope and pray that the medicines prescribed by the good lady doctor, with the Lord’s blessings will set her right; and that she will be better tomorrow.
