being naturalized as a US Citizen

Me and my girl with the judge and the guest speaker of Naturalization Ceremony
held at UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures.

After more than 5 years of being here in the United States, I was finally naturalized as an American citizen last Thursday at the University of Texas San Antonio - Institute of Texan Cultures.  The whole process was just so quick, about 3 to 4 months.  Hubby and I are really glad that this is over and done with.  This just mean that we don't have to dig and work on my papers every 5 or 10 years.  What a huge relief it had been!

The Naturalization Ceremony was not what I had expected to be.  They really make a huge preparation out of it.  I was thinking that I will just sign my certificate, hand it to me, and say congratulations; and that was it!  I was truly in for a shock!  It was like the court was in session.  It was so grand that they even invited a band, the US Navy Medical Command Band to perform a number of songs like The Star Spangled Banner, God Bless America, and so on and so forth.  It was really an amazing experience!  And now, on to the next juncture of my life!
